If you prefer to fish without a guide, we now offer what may be the best unguided fishing in Pennsylvania. Coot Hill Camp is located on Yellow Creek, one of Pennsylvania’s best limestone spring creeks. The camp is within a reasonable drive of most of the East, as well as Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Buffalo.

Coot Hill has 3 separate beats on Yellow Creek and a fourth on Beaver Creek. All this private access water has healthy populations of wild and stream-reared brown, rainbow, and brook trout. In addition to the private-access water, there are miles of excellent public trout water nearby.

Coot Hill is next to the fly fishing only section of Yellow Creek. Immediately down-stream from the FFO section is a private section with wild browns and stream-bred rainbows. A short drive away is Eddie’s Stretch, where large browns and rainbows abound. Watercress Meadow is six miles away, this is another section on Yellow Creek and is a classic small meadow limestone stream bordered with watercress and filled with wild browns. This is challenging fishing where a 14" brown is a real trophy. Access is also provided to Beaver Run, a limestone tributary of Yellow with a great population of browns, brookies and rainbows.

Only one party may book the camp at a time and must book it for the entire period. The camp is closed for the rest of the week to rest the fish. Anglers can expect good populations of healthy and well-rested fish. Guests decide how they wish to allocate the fishing.

The camp has complete cooking facilities and space for 4 anglers. Linens and towels are provided. Guests provide their own food, cooking, and housekeeping. Coot Hill Camp is a smoke free facility.

To provide the best possible fishing, Coot Hill is available from Thursday at 2:00 p.m. through Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Guided fishing on other private-access streams is available at an extra charge.

Note that all fishing is fly-fishing only, catch-and-release. A valid PA fishing license is required for all anglers.
